Fet Horsebreeding

THE BREEDING AT FET

The Fet breeding farm is a participant in the Quality system Certification of Landgræðslan and all of our horses are microchipped, frostmarked and registered in WorldFengur.

Numerous well known competition- and breeding horses have come from Fet. The farm has been nominated twenty times as the “Breeder of the year” and received the title three times, in 1998, 2004 and 2007.

At Fet there are around 25 foals born every year and most horses are showed in breeding evaluation at the age of 4 or 5 years old.

The breeding goal at Fet is to breed well built and handsome horses with noticable character and gaits.

The gaits should be well seperated, with emphasis on tölt. We don’t consider it the main point whether the horses are 4- or 5-gaited.

The temperament should be manageable so a rider at a top level can require the horse for it’s best performance but at the same time should a amateur be able to enjoy the horse as a great riding horses.
